Eye Surgeries

Methodology:

  • Needy people are screened, for cataract and other eye diseases, at Eye Screening Camps and Netra Kendras. Patients suspected of suffering from major eye diseases (retina, glaucoma, cornea problems etc) are referred to the Tertiary Hospital for further tests and treatmenty, as needed.
  • Patients with cataract are subjected to work-up for assessing fitness for surgery (through B.P., Blood sugar & IOP tests) at the Camp sites or Netra Kendras; these tests are free for patients.
  • Patients cleared for cataract surgery are transported, free of cost, to the Tertiary Hospital or one of the Satellite Secondary Hospitals nearest to the Camp site/Netra Kendra.
  • Patients stay overnight at the hospital, undergo tests and surgeries, all on free of cost basis.
  • After surgery, patients are given post-surgery medication, and are transported back to the Camp site/Netra Kendra, after two days.
